Sustainability Committee @ UWCSEA Dover

Tropical Leaves
Team Brief
At UWCSEA Dover, sustainability lies at the core of our education. We have various sustainability student initiatives from junior to high school, all working towards reducing our campus’s footprint and increasing student awareness about this topic. The initiatives can be categorized into the issues they wish to solve: awareness, consumption and protection of the natural environment. In addition, we have movements such as Veggie Wednesdays (where only vegetarian food is served) and recently, the removal of single-use plastic on campus. These started off as student-driven projects and the impacts are felt school-wide. Students are often keen and eager to make an impact and hence student leadership groups such as Student Council, Global Concern Executive and Environment service leaders are quick to implement change as well as listen to new ideas/initiatives. With support from the Dover Leadership Team, ideas are quickly made into actionable plans. Environment service leaders are currently in the process of registering UWC Dover as a certified WWF Eco-school and hope to attain the esteemed green flag award later this year.
